FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is online counseling right for me?
Online counseling has some definite benefits, such as convenience and accessibility, while it also may not provide enough support for the needs of some people. This is why I offer a free 15 minute consultation to determine whether or not this is a good fit for you, and if not can provide referrals to other resources.
Who can you work with?
This simple answer is I can work with anyone in the state of California. If you live in another state or even outside the country, things become a bit more complicated. This is something we can determine during your free 15 minute phone consultation whether or not your specific state or country allows this.
What should I expect?
The first one or two sessions will be focused on information gathering in order to more fully understand your reasons for seeking out counseling and the systems involved. In order for YOU to have ownership over YOUR counseling, YOU will be involved in each step of the assessment process including the creation of treatment goals and objectives. These are YOUR sessions and our work will be determined by what it is that YOU need to work through at any given moment. I will also provide you information around my private practice, experience, and counseling approach.
How long are your sessions?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length. Sometimes you may find the need to schedule a longer session to go more in depth around a specific issue or concern. I also offer a 90 minute session length for those in need of these services.
What is the length of time I will be in therapy?
This is entirely up to you and the work you determine you need to do. Some people use therapy as a way to learn the tools they need to more effectively navigate their lives, while others are seeking a more in depth process to understand what is underneath it all. I am able to support through either.
What is a Marriage and Family Therapist?
There are many different licensure types for therapists. Marriage and Family Therapists do not only work with married people and families, they also do a lof of work with individuals. Marriage and Family Therapists are relationally focused and this is the core of the training received. These relationships include relationship with self, relationship with others, and relationship to the greater world.
What is your cancellation policy?
24 hour notice of cancellation is required. Without 24-hour notice, client will be charged the full fee for the missed session.
